Class 4

Class 4

Class 4 is a mixed year 5 and 6 class taught by Mrs Carr (class teacher) and Mrs Hawkins (HLTA). As the oldest children at St Paul’s, Class 4 enjoy taking on lots of responsibilities including being school prefects (setting a good example to others and helping others to follow the school’s Golden Five rules) and Play Makers (creating games and activities for other children to enjoy at lunch times). Team captains, School Council reps and Worship Council reps are also elected to represent the school from our class. Being in upper KS2 is a really exciting time as it is a time where we can really enjoy developing our learning skills but also developing as young individuals.

Class 4
Each morning we focus on our learning in Maths and English. Alongside these main lessons, we also participate in ‘memory maths’ (rehearsal of key maths facts and strategies), SPAG (spelling/grammar & punctuation practise) and guided reading.

Each term we focus on a topic which incorporates history, geography, art and DT learning. We also have a separate science and RE lesson. Class 4 are now learning German, taught to us by Mrs Hawkins, our Modern Foreign Languages Co-ordinator.

We enjoy being active in Class 4! On Tuesdays, Miss Heap teaches us PE and on Thursday Miss Ashley takes us outdoors for a whole afternoon of ‘Forest Schools’ learning. This combines lots of outdoor activities and nature activities which Miss Ashley links with our topics, the seasons or festivals. We have recently, for example, built mud pyramids to link with our history topic and used leaves to create some interesting artwork.
